Grandstands, scoreboards and screens
There are roughly 20,000 grandstand seats located around the course and practice ground. Smoking or drinking alcohol is not allowed on any of them. Scoreboards throughout the course and in the Tented Village will keep you fully informed, and giant screens will be set up in the Tented Village showing the action.

Access to the course
You can move freely around the golf course as long as you stay outside the ropes. Controlled crossing points, marked by yellow signposts, should be used when crossing the fairway.

72nd Hole
As usual, spectators will be welcomed onto the 18th fairway to view the presentation ceremony. Please obey the instructions of the marshals and remain behind the fairway rope lines and barriers until the final putt has dropped and the players have left the green — remember not to enter the fairway in the event of a play-off! Spectators will then be welcomed onto the fairway. Be patient while the final players record their scores; use that time to get a great viewing position for the presentation of the Claret Jug.

Again, be patient at the entry points and don’t push forward towards the course. When you’re on the fairway, make your way towards the marshals lined in front of Crossing Point A. In the interests of safety, don’t run and follow the guidance of marshals at all times.

Facilities for the Disabled
Special viewing areas have marked out at a number of greens for spectators in wheelchairs. For further information on viewing areas, car parking and more, please see Opengolf.com or contact The R&A Ticket Office on 01334 460000.

Access to the Tented Village and to the right of the first tee, which also overlooks the 18th green, is available to wheelchair users as it is across relatively level ground. An area is reserved for wheelchair users at the first tee/18th green and is operated strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. This facility will be popular, particularly on Wednesday 14, Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 July when large crowds are expected. As space is limited, access for accompanying carers will also be restricted.

Some areas on the golf course are unsuitable for many spectators, and particularly for wheelchair users, with rough and sloping ground which can become soft and slippery in wet conditions. However, a number of areas on the golf course are suitable for wheelchair users, with a path running around the perimeter of the course, and marshals have been requested to assist by asking spectators to allow wheelchair users to access the front of the rope line where possible.

Wheelchair-accessible toilets will be provided in the Tented Village, to the right of the first fairway, at the ninth green, to the right of the 14th fairway and at the 17th green.

Mobile Phones
Your mobile phone might distract players, so it won’t get through the paygates. Please try not bring your phone to the course.

Anybody coming to the course with their mobile phone will need to leave it at one of the storage facilities by the course entrances.

Cameras
Please feel free to bring your camera to the course and snap away on any of the practice days. Do not bring your camera, however, on any of the four Championship days as it will not be allowed through the paygates.

Safety
If it gets wet, it gets slippery, so please wear appropriate footwear. Don’t forget to bring sun-tan lotion and remember to drink plenty of fluids when it’s hot and sunny.

Bad Weather
In the event of bad weather, it may be necessary to evacuate the grandstands. Pay attention to the marshals’ instructions.

Catering facilities
There are plenty of places to fill up on food and drink on site, both on the course and within the Tented Village.

Junior Golf Tent
If you’re under 16 years of age, don’t forget to have your free golf lesson from a PGA professional at the Junior Golf Tent.

Meeting Points
The golf course, tented village and catering areas cover a large area, so it is easy to become separated from family and friends. It is a good idea to arrange with friends and family before you arrive to meet at the designated meeting point within the tented village or at some other easily recognised landmark, if this happens.

We would ask that you pay particular attention to this advice if attending with children.

Left Luggage Facilities
There will be several left luggage facilities positioned throughout the Tented Village. Please be aware that your bag may have to searched be searched by a security guard.

Medical and First Aid
Full medical and first aid facilities will be available around the course and in the Tented Village.

If you need medication for a minor ailment, there is a pharmacy on site within the tented village. If you require directions please do not hesitate to ask an official or one of our volunteer Marshals who will have course maps. We also provide an information point within the village and maps can be found within the official programme.

Banking Services
The Royal Bank of Scotland, Patron of The Open Championship, will be on-site providing services including ATMs. At the Championship they make no charge for cashing personal cheques of customers of other UK banks — just make sure you bring your Cheque Guarantee Card.

Binoculars

Nikon is a Patron of The Open Championship and a full range of their binoculars can be bought or hired from the Nikon Marquee in the Tented Village.

Official Merchandise

Inside the Pavilion will be everything you could want including menswear, ladieswear, waterproofs, hats, golf accessories and kidswear. And they’ll all carry The Open 2010 logo. Bag drop, onward shipping and VAT refund services will all be available.

Autographs
To make it easy to get your favourite player’s autograph, a special area will be designated where players can be approached.
